Adam's negligence; The blame Game

Adam's Negligence; the blame game

Let's do a little time travelling, way back to when it all began. Our major problem on earth hasn't been disobedience or dishonesty or any of that, it has been negligence! This is one post where I get to throw the blame card on our dearest father Adam, a little blame to Eve too but most of it to Adam. So my dearest brothers don't think for a second that I'm taking sides with mom (Eve).
So there's this really beautiful place, like the most beautiful place ever created solely for Adam to live in, there are Gold and all these other precious stones, every type of fruit, flowers and tree you can ever  think of, you can watch the birds of the sky,the beautiful streams and rivers as it flows, the landscape is amazing, and the sunset is a view you would not want to miss any day. It's Eden; Adam's home.
Adam having spent time with God had come to familiarize himself with God and he had full knowledge about how to run this organization, he had undergone all the training necessary to be the CEO of Eden so God decides to hand over the company to Adam, His most competent staff. Before the handover, he puts him to a big test to name every creature of the earth. And this test I'm sure lasted a very long while, could even be years; imagine the guy naming all the animals that existed. Ever heard of the animal called Aye-aye? yup! I just found out about its existence, Adam named it. So he passes the test and he is left in charge.
Adam goes about tending the forest, making sure all animals are safe and aren't inflicting injury on themselves, imagine Adam monitoring and co-coaching the new baby eagle on his first flight.
Adam is busy every day making sure all the animals are doing what they were created to do, he is like the modern day zookeeper and agriculturist making sure the plants are healthy and the weeds aren't outgrowing them. If you think your job is difficult then think again about Adam's job with no help what so ever.
Then God decides to make him a companion, so when he isn't tending the garden or naming the animals and even when God isn't with Adam to gist as they always do in the cool of the day, Adam doesn't feel alone, all by himself talking to animals like he is insane. Eve is created, formed from Adam, a companion, a helpmeet. Adam is pleased with the management for bringing in a new staff.
Eve is excited about getting to know Adam and this beautiful place she's now to work in. she's amazed by the species of plants and animals. She says to herself "never would I resign from this job".
Adam takes her around their new home gets to introduce her to all his cool animal buddies, while Eve is still busy trying to get familiar with her job description, she memorizes the rules and regulations Adam gives her starting with the rule against touching or eating the tree in the middle of the forest ; as going contrary to this rule would lead to her death. She makes an inner vow to stay away from it.
Time passes by and she's happy about her growth in the company, then on this faithful day, she wakes up and in the usual light of following Adam around to work, she wanders off from Adam. Now the serpent knows that God's purpose for man is love and fellowship; for God and for his fellow human,  and the only way to attack this God-Man,Man-woman,woman-God relationship is to break the bond between Adam and Eve, for it knows that if Adam is right next to Eve this bond can't be tampered with, so he waits for Adam to be occupied with work rather than being watchful with this new staff of his,he gets lost in the job and neglects his role.
Excited Eve goes past the middle of Eden unnoticed and the serpent takes this opportunity and tries to convince her to eat the fruit. Eve rejects his offer initially "no serpent, Adam told me that God said we shouldn't eat it and that if we did we will die" (Gen.3:2-4)
The serpent insists "young lady! I was here on earth before you arrived so you better listen to me, you will not die. Don't you know I was even here before your so-called Adam, so I should know the rules around here better than him, and I heard God pretty clear when he said if you eat it you will be wise and you will know good and evil" (Gen.3:4). Poor Eve, to allow the serpent play her like this, if only she had called out to  Adam for clarification, rather she was curious to be wise as God himself.
She ate the fruit and took to Adam, and in negligence again Adam ate it, this was a fruit he had seen more than a thousand times but today he turned a blind eye and ate it anyway.
Eyes opened, shame walks in when God questions; the blame game starts "it wasn't me, it was the woman you gave me", "it wasn't me it was the serpent", relationship broken, curses begin, Eden lost; Adam's negligence, Eve's curiosity.

Often times we get so busy in our lives that we become negligent and turn a blind eye to what is really important. We are so busy chasing fame, money and careers that we neglect our sole purpose on earth. A man lying on his deathbed isn't thinking about his wealth or how famous he was, he's more occupied with thoughts of the life after, the relationships he had with his family and people around him if he had been a good father, friend, boss and neighbour.
Like Adam, we are created by God to run whatever life's purpose that we forget the initial purpose to which we were created; to love God, serve him do his work, love others look out for them and be sure the relationship link between them and God is known to them. Whatever you are called to do if it isn't linked to loving God, making other humans like you feel loved and making sure they know that a God exists and they ought to walk in his instructions then it's an empty call with enough room for the serpent to creep in.
The world would be a better place if we looked out for each other more and didn't give room for the devil to confuse us on what God expects from us.

"My sons, do not be negligent and careless now, for the Lord has chosen you to stand in His presence, to attend to His service, and to be His ministers and burn incense.”
