Hall of faith
Hall of Faith
Some time last week I had to go with my father to a small community called Buya in Obanliku, Cross River state. It is located by the mountain sides, being here opened my eyes to appreciate nature more, I couldn't help myself but take as many pictures of the mountains. While I was at my photo taking session I paused for a while and began to wonder like I always do *LOL*, for the next couple of hours i was thinking about those mountains and questions began to run through my mind, how exactly did God intend I believe that if say to this mountain move it will move? Those big rocks that had stood immovable for ages, and i had the power to ask it to just do a little move for me? How could I exercise my faith with such an impossible thing? It lead me to reading through the list in the hall of faith. The hall of faith just like the hall /wall/walk of fame which consist of a list of individuals, achievements, or animals, usually chosen by a group of electors, to mark their fame in their field, is in Hebrews 11 the faith manual of the Bible that consists of names and stories of people whose achievements were chosen to mark their faith. Hebrews 11 is left for extension and has space for all of us to grace it pages with our faith stories.
Abel had to make an offering, a big pleasant offering to a God he had only grown up to hear about and probably felt He could have had mercy on his parents rather than send them away from eden, but then his parents had brought him up with the knowledge of a God he hadn't seen but was told to offer sacrifices to, he just offered the best of his harvest blindly to a God he had never known personally but believed his sacrifice was an appreciation for the source of the harvest.
For a man to disappear from the earth without dying, for a man to be hand carried by God out of the earth, we should all know Enoch had a blind faith and believed in a God he hadn't seen.
Mr. Noah, crazy dude wakes up one day and starts to build an ark and warns people about a flood coming in to wash away the entire earth and destroy everyone not on the ark. " what type of flood will be big enough to wipe the whole earth? Oh please Noah just keep building your ark if that's the level to which your madness has reached and let us be merry, we all know that wouldn't happen" this was the response to Noah's building an ark faith talk.
Abraham and Sarah childless yet still believing that they will be the father and mother of many nations.
Finally they manage to have a son, and Abraham proceeds to turning this long awaited 100years wait packaged son to a sacrificial lamb because God commands him to and puts him to a test, the test was on his faith, he had waited almost 10decades to have a son but he didn't waste time in raising a knife to his son's throat, he believed even without evidence he would be a father and here he was so if God wanted to take this one from him, God will definitely resurrect him.
Moses's parent hid him by faith, and he escaped being murdered as a child only to stand in front of a burning bush years later and take an instruction from God to make a bold move of faith, he lead the children of Israel out of Egypt by faith, the red sea parted for them to walk through by faith, manna fell from heaven by faith, the walls of Jericho fell flat by faith.
The list goes on and on Rahab the prostitute, Samson, Barrak,Gideon,David, Samuel and all the prophets and so on all achieved all they had by faith.
Faith will tell you to have patience when everything else is telling you to panic.
Faith will tell you to hold on when everything else is telling you to let go.
Faith will tell you to push forward when everything else is telling you to pull back.
Faith will tell you, you will be a father of many nations even when your biological clock has run out.
Faith will tell you build an ark for a flood is coming when you live in a place no rain has fallen in ages.
Faith will tell you offer a big offering to God when there's really no reason to offer a good offering.
Faith will tell you walk through the red sea, when you do not know how to swim.
Faith will tell you manna will fall from heaven, when you don't have any food in your house.
Faith will tell you kill Goliath when you are only an expert in rearing flock, with no knowledge of what is done on a battle field.
Faith will call you a mighty man of valour when you are as weak as a worm and you feel insignificant.
Faith will tell you everything will fall in place when nothing is really working.
Faith will see light in the dark.
faith is when it doesn't look like it but you still choose to see it anyway, faith is the assurance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.
Faith is a conviction of the reality of what hasn't been seen? How can it be real when it can't be seen, faith makes common sense look foolish.
Faith ignores the how and when and sticks to the Possibility of it happening.
The Hall of faith every now and then adds a gold star with the names of people living up to faith expectations. So get a gold star with your name engraved to the hall of faith, faith your way through whatever impossibility till you make it. The world's definition of the word impossibility is God's definition of an opportunity to tell the world of the evidence of an impossible thing not seen.
Without faith it is impossible to please God, so it is really not optional to have faith unless you don't want God to be pleased with you. God is pleased when you are able to drop the sight and work by faith.
So faith it till you make it to the hall of faith.
"...Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
Matthew 17:20 NIV
