Plot Twist: The Lost One

Plot twist : The Lost One

You should know by now I like to tell stories, sometimes in a different way from what they really are.  One of the highlights of  last week was when  a friend of mine asked that I listen to Cory Asbury's "Reckless love", the song has been left on repeat and I'm currently listening to it while writing this post.

There once lived a man who was seen to be the wealthiest man of his time, his name had been stuck on top of the Forbes list year after year. With investments in different countries all across the globe. There was no country he didn't have a branch of his company running and making massive returns.  He had everything going really well for him, life seemed really really good.
One evening he sat at dinner with his family, the chef had made one of his favorite meals. He quickly shared the grace and began to munch up his food, as he took one spoon his heart was full of joy; as this was the first time in a long while he was sharing a meal with all his sons present. Everyone seemed happy dinning with daddy, the voice of his youngest son broke his happy thought.
" Father, I turned 18 last month and I still haven't gotten my trust fund, I demand it handed to me in full, I am grown and I can now handle my life and my money."
He tried to explain to his  son how he needed to get involved as an intern in the company to learn more about the family business, finish school and  get his university degree in Business Administration, before his shares will be completely handed over to him, but all attempts to make him understand fell on deaf ears. The man called his Account manager and lawyer to sign off the trust to his son. His Favorite meal suddenly began to taste sour, as he watched his youngest son storm out of the house.

Days went by and the television  would not go off, as every channel seemed to carry news of his sons scandalous acts, he had moved from city to city lavishing money, misbehaving and constantly getting into trouble.
It had been a week now since his son stormed out from dinner, every single day the man drove out to whatever city his son was in, begging him to come back home. At the end of the each day he went home more disappointed than the previous as his son would never agree to go with him.
Weeks turned to months, months to years as his son drifted far a way from him, the Media had gotten tired of the carrying the same boring stories. Everyone was done thinking the boy  will get his act together. Everyone but Him.
Early one morning he set out to the find his long lost son,he had lost track of time  sitting at home with expectation of his sons return, today he will not return until the boy had agreed to come back home with him, he was going to leave everything behind to go bring his precious boy back home; even if it was going to takes years, he will stay out there with his son until he was able to convince him and bring him back home.

The boy  had squandered all his money and was now  feeding from leftovers thrown in the trash, he had become addicted to drugs and alcohol, he was  a wreck and his  life had fallen apart completely, he once had everything and now he was left with nothing but shame to his name. He thought of the last time his father had come to beg him to come home and how he had spoken rudely and sent him away, he began to cry uncontrollably, how foolish he had been, his father loved him enough to let him make choices and he had made the most stupid choice wandering off from home. He pack his wrecked self and was ready to return home, he would take the role of a cleaner or an errand boy, so far as he still lived in his father's house.

The boy got up from the trash and headed for the train station, he began  begging people to help pay his way home, he moved from person to person seeking for help, but no one will help him, he was covered in dirt and he stunk, everyone he approached thought he was mad.
He sat on the floor and bowed his head in shame, he had fallen to far, he said himself.  He was interrupted by a tap on his back as someone stood in front of him with an outstretched hand giving him  a couple of shiny notes, he lifted  his head to give thanks to his help giver and tears gushed out as he looked and saw a face he had longed to see. A father  reunited with his long lost son. "I will go home with you today" the boy struggled with the words as he locked himself tightly in his father's warm embrace.

The kind of love God has for us is  overwhelming, incautious  and endless.
Love that trades a million things in exchange for us.
A love the bankrupted heaven for you ; a propelling force that doesn't let the dominion of his exalted throne stop Him from looking for you.
Love that lights up darkness, kicks down walls, climbs to the top of the highest mountains, goes down to the depths of the seas, runs down to steepest valleys just to get through to you.
He leaves the 99 every time and chases after you, until He finds you.
Are you lost with no one to help redirect you? just make the move towards Him, He has been constantly searching for you asking you come home to him, get on the train with Daddy, you have been lost long enough.
He has already paid the ticket. Get on this long  train ride with him, the journey to a the best version of you will be long and slow but God is the process and no one ever comes out of the process the same way the got in.
Let the train take you home, as a banquet awaits your arrival.

“Suppose one of you had a hundred sheep and lost one. Wouldn’t you leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the lost one until you found it? When found, you can be sure you would put it across your shoulders, rejoicing, and when you got home call in your friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Celebrate with me! I’ve found my lost sheep!’ Count on it—there’s more joy in heaven over one sinner’s rescued life than over ninety-nine good people in no need of rescue" LUKE 15:4-7 (MSG)

  1. You are a gift to our generation, I must confess: though you have a job that tries to steal your time from you, you still create more time time think, compose and write to save a soul. May you continue to keep His blessings as I tap from you. I'm your number one fan not just your friend. I sometimes forget how deep and reckless His love for me is. Thank you for the post. Shalom!
