Something From Nothing

There's no more food!
These were the last words I heard as I stood staring at the caterer. It had been a long week of planning and preparing for my Boss's send forth party. He was leaving the company to another company where he was to assume the position of the Managing Director of the company, this was a big career move and he deserved a party.
After weeks of planning a little party for just the members of the department and a few other management staff, the turn up to the party had become out of control. We had overrun our budget and had run out of food and drinks. With no last-minute plans, no extra money and a room filled with people. We were dazed.

This similar incident happened at a wedding in Cana. In this wedding feast people were drinking and being merry, the hosts suddenly ran out of wine. The guests present had doubled the expected number. What a disaster! This was going to be a big embarrassment and the tale of the wedding with no wine will spread like wildfire across all of Cana. They began to run helter-skelter making all the necessary calls to get the wine sellers to bring fresh wine but couldn’t get any wine at short notice.

Jesus, Mary and the disciples happened to be one of the many guests at this wedding. Mary sat at the edge of the table where she overheard the wine situation the hosts were facing.
She turned to Jesus to hint him on the current situation of things. “Son there’s no more wine!”
And Jesus responded, “my time hasn’t come, what do you want me to do?”
Mary called one of the servants and whispered to him “ I hear there’s no wine left” pointing to Jesus she added, “do whatever He tells you to do.”
Jesus turned to the servant "fill the waterpots with water” he said.
Just around the corner sat six empty waterpots, the servant walked towards the well wondering what miracle this man was about to perform.
"will I fill up the pots with water and serve the guests water rather than wine? Who serves water when the wine runs out at a feast? " he thought to himself as he went on fetching the water, with each trip to the well, he questioned what he was doing. When he filled the waterpots he proceeded to tell Jesus.
“Draw some out and take it to the master of ceremony,” Jesus said to the servant.
" You mean I should fetch from the Pots I just filled with "Water" and take to the guests? " the servant asked surprisingly.
"Yes!" Jesus responded.

All the other servants stood anxiously waiting for the outcome, "water to be drunk at a wedding feast? This story will make headlinesthey murmured amongst themselves.  He walked forward and dipped the jug in, fetching the liquid content he had just spent the last hour fetching. Fear gripping him as he took slow steps closer to the wedding hall, he held the jug tightly not looking into the content of the jug, he stood in front of the master of ceremony and  poured out the content into his cup, he watched in amazement  as the water he had fetched poured out of the jug as wine. The master of ceremony drank and was filled with happiness. “ a feast that serves the best wine last.”
Clearwater became the best wine they had ever tasted.

Jesus is in the business of blowing our minds. He takes from our insufficiency and makes abundance. At a point where you feel there’s nothing left Jesus sure knows how to bring something out of it. We have to obey God even if we aren’t sure of the outcome.
God hasn’t asked you to figure out how you are going to be provided for, He only asks you to trust Him as He takes you through the process of filling each jar and to trust him without reason when he says to take a jug of what is not and pour out what is.
God will supply ALL our needs, not according to our intellectual capacity to understand the situation of things but according to his riches in glory (Phil.4:19).

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,” -- Ephesians. 3: 20
